Playing his final game in his high school gymnasium, Kentucky Mr.
Basketball Nathan Dieudonne poured in a game-high 20 points and led the
Kentucky All-Stars to a 96-80 victory over the Junior All-Stars
Wednesday night at Trinity High School's Steinhauser Gymnasium in
Louisville.
"It meant a lot to play (at Trinity) one more time," said Dieudonne,
who has signed to play in college at Boston University. "I think this
scrimmage game allowed us the chance to feel each other out and prepare
for Indiana this weekend."
The Rowan County duo of D.J. Townsend and Adam Wing chipped in 16 and
12 points, respectively, for the Kentucky All-Stars. Jeril Taylor, of
Pleasure Ridge Park, also had 12.
The All-Stars will do battle with the Indiana All-Stars in their annual
two-game series this weekend. The first meeting will take place Friday
at 7:30 in Freedom Hall.
Bullitt East's Derek Willis tallied 16 points to lead the Junior
All-Stars, and Trinity's Darryl Hicks finished with 15.
Girls game
The Kentucky All-Stars trailed by nine points late in the first half
but rallied to upend a collection of Kentucky's top incoming juniors,
106-77.
Boone County's Sydney Moss, Kentucky's 2012 Miss Basketball and a
University of Florida signee, led the Kentucky All-Stars with a
game-high 20 points.
South Oldham's Jasmine Whitfield added 16 points, Hopkinsville's
Christy Soldo chipped in 14 and Perry County Central's Kendall Noble 13
for the All-Stars, who will clash with the Indiana All-Stars in a 5:30
match up Friday at Freedom Hall.
The Junior All-Stars got 17 points from Owensboro Catholic's Becca
Greenwell. Christian Academy's China Dow and Paducah Tilghman's Chelsey
Shumpert each added 12.
The All-Stars also defeated the Junior All-Stars by a similar margin --
86-56 -- Tuesday night in a scrimmage at Paul Dunbar High School in
Lexington.
