Another very short one today. Not a lot going on here in the Bluegrass State except coaching changes.
Harry Hayes is the new coach at Kentucky Country Day. He was an assistant at that school the past two seasons. Doug Young gave it up after several years as head coach.
Erin Walker is the new girls’ head coach at Somerset. She was head coach at Nicholas County last season. Chris Adkins gives up the head of the bench at Somerset after about four years.
Kristina Covington is the new girls’ coach at Central Hardin. She played on Elizabethtown’s State Championship team in 1998. Then she played her college ball at Western Kentucky. Kristina was a basketball assistant at Central Hardin last season and was girls’ track coach. Demond Thomas was head coach at CH for one season.
Dawn Plitzuweit is the new women’s basketball coach at Northern Kentucky University. She comes here from The University of Michgan where she was associate head coach last season. Nancy Winstel gave up the NKU job after many, many years.

Louisville Eastern High School recently had two players to sign on the dotted line. Asia Nichols did so with Southwestern Illinois and Chalyse Taylor with The University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Two bits of information concerning former girls’ basketball coaches and both involving Pendleton County High (I taught there 14 years).
Keith Smith is the new athletic director at Pendleton. He was at one time head girls’ basketball coach. He gave that up and then moved in later as girls’ assistant coach. He also recently has been golf coach. Keith is this weekend changing his e-mail address to keith.smith@pendleton.Kyschools.us. Since the new Kentucky e-mail system went into effect several years also. Keith has been using Everett as his first name.
Also involving girls coaches, Ed Cravens, girls basketball coach at Campbell County for many years before giving it up last season, recently hired on as boys’ coach at Pendleton County.
